I bought a \u003cem\u003ecarlablackiae\u003c\/em\u003e seedling from Enid at NSE, promptly killed it, whined about it, and she sent me this one as a replacement out of pity or kindness or both. It's an ecotype cross from Scott Cohen from a few years back, and it's a veinier representation of the species than most people go for - the market seems to want the thin, muted version of \u003cem\u003ecarlablackiae\u003c\/em\u003e, but I've always liked this one's thicker, louder venation. It's already made some killer hybrids, so I figured I'd keep going.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe pollen parent is A. \u003cem\u003ecerrocampense\u003c\/em\u003e, one of the few waxy-leaved species out of section Cardiolonchium, round as a dinner plate with a bright yellow spadix. This particular plant throws a generous amount of pollen, fragrant enough that you notice it in the greenhouse, and it's been behind several notable hybrids lately. So this cross is really just me putting two proven parents together to see what the veins do when you cross them with that waxy roundness.
