I bought a seedling of it from Enid at NSE, killed it in short order, whined about it, and she sent me this one out of kindness. Most people chase the thin-veined, muted carlablackiae, named I believe for the Heliconia-focused Carla Black down in Central America, but I've always had a soft spot for the thicker, louder veins on this one. It's made some killer hybrids so far, and I wanted to see what it could do against something waxier.

Enter cerrocampense, one of the few waxy-leaved members of section Cardiolonchium, dinner-plate-round with a bright yellow spadix and a stupid amount of fragrant pollen. It's shown up in some notable hybrids lately, and for good reason. This cross puts the vein against the wax, the loud against the round, and I'm curious which parent wins out as these seedlings mature.
