It exists on the tag, it did its job, and that's the whole file.

The pollen parent is a different story. 'Amy' is named for my mom, and it earned that honor the honest way - strong primary venation set against a dark green lamina, with margins that undulate just enough to keep your eye moving. It came up as a naturally occurring selection out of my own seedlings, nothing engineered about it, and the IAS Cultivar Committee agreed it was worth a name. What gets me is the lineage behind it: (crystallinum x magnificum) x (magnificum x nigrolaminum "Gigi"), two parents that are each fine on their own but not the kind of plant you'd stop to photograph. Neither one is a show stopper. Put them together and you get 'Amy'. So consider this a small lecture on humility - don't write off the pedestrian ones, because sometimes they're holding the good stuff in reserve.

https://40535d-84.myshopify.com/products/skg-dressleri-x-magnificum-x-papillilaminum-ft-sherman-self-x-amy
