Amy x aff besseae "Long"
Amy is named for my mom, which ought to tell you something about where she sits in my personal hierarchy of plants. She's recognized for strong primary venation against a dark green lamina and margins that undulate just enough to keep things interesting. What I like most about her, though, is the story underneath: her own parents, (crystallinum x magnificum) x (magnificum x nigrolaminum "Gigi"), are handsome plants but nothing you'd stop and stare at, and yet they produced Amy, who was good enough to submit to and get approved by the IAS Cultivar Committee. A naturally occurring selection, plucked out of my own growing efforts. Proof that you shouldn't be so quick to write off the pedestrian looking ones on your bench.
The pollen parent here is aff besseae "Long," paired onto Amy to see what her strong venation and dark lamina do when crossed outward. No history to report on this one, just curiosity about what comes of it.
