Amy x carlablackiae "Tropicarla"

Amy is named for my mom, which means this cross is either a nice tribute or a slightly awkward family affair depending on how you look at it. She was a naturally occurring selection out of my own growing efforts, eventually submitted to and approved by the IAS Cultivar Committee, recognized for strong primary venation against a dark green lamina and those distinctly undulate margins that make her easy to pick out even before she's mature.

Here's the part I like: Amy's own parents, crystallinum x magnificum on one side and magnificum x nigrolaminum "Gigi" on the other, are handsome plants but not showstoppers, nothing you'd pull out of a lineup. Amy proves what happens when two pretty-good plants happen to combine just right. Pollen came from carlablackiae "Tropicarla," and that's the whole story on that side. Curious to see which parent wins out here, or if we get something that splits the difference.
