Anthurium antolakii x "Wonder Boy A"

A species cross that leans hard into contrast. A. antolakii doesn't get the same fanfare as some of its jungle monster cousins - it's shorter, darker, a bit diminutive in most forms - but that's a reflection of where it grows, tucked into dense understory where its tightly packed papilla are doing serious work just gathering what light filters down. This particular seed parent is an ecotype cross from another breeder, tag long lost, so all I can tell you for certain is the species behind it.

The pollen parent, "Wonder Boy A", came to me from Scott Cohen some years back. Whether it's original Wonder Boy material or a self, I honestly can't say, but it doesn't shy away from throwing wondrous emergent colors onto its offspring. It's large and vigorous too, carrying forward Tim Anderson's long habit of pulling something remarkable out of species nobody was paying attention to. Pairing that energy with the quiet, light-hoarding patience of antolakii feels like a good bet.
