This one doubles down on carlablackiae, which feels like the right way to describe a cross that puts the species back onto itself. The seed parent is another Phil Iloo creation, dark and short with a petiole that stays under 18 inches with some reliability, and it's proven itself a workhorse - the seed batches off this plant come robust, with fleshy berries that make you feel like you're doing something right. Back onto that goes OG1x5, an ecotype cross from Scott Cohen from a few years back, and the veinier side of carlablackiae to boot. I had to get this one twice - bought a seedling from Enid at NSE, killed it, whined about it, and she sent this one as a replacement. Worth the whining.

Most people want their carlablackiae thin-veined and muted. I don't. I like the thicker, louder veins on this one, and it's already made some killer hybrids - this is just the latest excuse to keep using it.
