Anthurium [("Greige" x red crystal) x carlablackiae] x carlablackiae OG1x5

This one doubles down on carlablackiae, which tells you something about where my head's been at. The seed parent is Phil Iloo's again, one of his dark, short growers that stays upright and keeps its petiole under 18 inches without much fuss, and by now it throws robust seed batches with berries fleshy enough to make the whole process feel worthwhile. Onto that I put pollen from OG1x5, Scott Cohen's veinier ecotype of the species from a few years back - though the plant itself has a story: I bought a seedling of it from Enid at NSE, killed it in short order, whined about it, and she sent me this one as a replacement out of pity or generosity, probably both.

Most people chase the thin-veined, muted carlablackiae, the quiet representations of the species. I'm not most people. I like the thicker, louder veins on this one, and it's already proven itself in some killer hybrids. This cross puts that vein character right back up against Phil's dark compact form, and I'm curious what settles out in the middle.
