Anthurium (papillilaminum x sp trilobe) x aff besseae "Long"

papillilaminum x sp trilobe on one side, aff besseae "Long" on the other - one cross-sectional hybrid meeting one subtly elongated species-type, and I couldn't resist seeing what happens when you put them together. The seed parent came from Rory Antolak; I asked him back in 2023 what hybrid he was most excited about, and he handed me this one without skipping a beat. As it matures the lobes turn into these floppy ears, and like a lot of subvelvet crosses it takes on a blue hue once hardened - that shimmery gloss you get from combining wax and suede.

The pollen parent I call "long bess," likely aff besseae by way of some subtle hybridization, distinguished mostly by being longer and narrower than the ones you usually see traded. If you've read enough of these you already know I have a type. This pairing is less about drama and more about seeing which traits win out when floppy meets long.
