"Wonder Boy A" x 'Amy'

The seed parent came from Scott Cohen some years back, and to this day I couldn't tell you with certainty whether it's original Wonder Boy material or a self of it - what I can tell you is that it throws wondrous emergent colors and passes them on readily, which is more than I can say for most things with a mystery pedigree. It's large, vigorous, and carries that particular Tim Anderson thread of coaxing something amazing out of relatively unknown species inputs. You just trust it.

The pollen parent is 'Amy', named for my mom, and approved by the IAS Cultivar Committee for her strong primary venation against a dark green lamina and those distinctly undulate margins. Her own parents - (crystallinum x magnificum) x (magnificum x nigrolaminum "Gigi") - are handsome enough plants but nothing you'd pick out of a lineup, each with some vaguely interesting quality and not much else to write home about. And yet here's 'Amy', proof that you shouldn't be so quick to walk past the pedestrian-looking ones on the bench. This cross is what happens when that lesson gets applied twice.
