The seed parent has a story I still can't quite believe my luck on. Another Miami roadside nursery pickup a few years back, this one came with a handwritten tag from Doctor Jeffrey Block himself, notating "Wonder Boy" along with a breeding date. Like digging through piles at Goodwill and finding a Mickey Mantle rookie card. The breeder in question has been allegedly cagey about crediting the late Tim Anderson for his contribution to these lineages, so finding a discarded plant calling out "Wonder Boy" directly, in his own hand, was a real treat. It's a sturdy, magnificum-shaped plant and a prolific seed producer, which is how we got here.

The pollen parent is a veinier representation of Anthurium carlablackiae, an ecotype cross from Scott Cohen. Mine has a small tragicomic backstory of its own - I bought a seedling from Enid at NSE, killed it, whined about it, and she sent me this one as a replacement. Most people chase the thinly-veined, muted carlablackiae, but I've always preferred this thicker, louder-veined version. It's made some killer hybrids before, and I'm curious what it does crossed onto a plant with this kind of paper trail behind it.
