Giant Pink x (Red Velvet Cake x Zara)

The seed parent's tag is a mouthful - ("Giant Pink" crystallinum x magnificum) x "Wonder Boy A" - so I just call her Giant Pink and leave it at that. She earns the name honestly, with bubblegum pink emergents and a size to match, another red crystal type that owes most of its lineage to Tim's breeding efforts.

The pollen parent I paid too much for at the IAS Show & Sale, September 2023, from Dr. Jeffrey Block's booth. It sat there being a runt for a year, tested my patience, then finally took off into a proper mother plant. Its emergent color shifts with temperature and light, sliding from soft pink-brown to something closer to an arterial red, and it's already made its way into a few other crosses floating around the greenhouse.

Putting these two together was mostly curiosity - what happens when you stack that much pink and red potential on top of itself. We'll see what the seedlings decide to do with it.
