((Greige x red crystal) x carlablackiae) x carlablackiae OG1x5
The seed parent here is (Greige x red crystal) x carlablackiae, and that's about all I've got on it. No notes, no drama, just a name on a tag and a plant that made it to the pollen brush.
The pollen parent is the one with a story. Anthurium carlablackiae OG1x5 is an ecotype cross from Scott Cohen, a veinier take on a species most people want thin and muted. I bought a seedling of it from Enid at NSE, promptly killed it, whined about it, and she sent me this one out of pity, or generosity, hard to say which. Carlablackiae is named for Carla Black, a Heliconia person if I recall, based somewhere in Central America - so it's a little funny that a plant named after someone else's specialty has made some of my better hybrids. Everyone wants the quiet, thin-veined version. I like the loud one. This seedling carries that same OG1x5 pollen line forward, stacked onto its own hybrid seed parent, so we'll see which parent's opinion about veins wins out.
