Justin x forgetii
Justin the plant, not Justin the man, though I suppose we have both to thank here. I picked this one up from Tezula back in summer of 2022, bred by another Justin down in Tampa who left seed at SKG - I liked the name enough to buy the seedling sight unseen, and it has since become one of my most prolific breeders, statement plant included. The actual hybrid underneath is (crystallinum x magnificum) x subsignatum, and it carries those sublet subvelvet traits into pretty much everything I put it with. I've made more than 15 unique crosses off this plant at this point, and each batch has gone its own way.
This time the pollen parent is Anthurium forgetii, a species I'll admit isn't doing much for me in the sinus department, but there's something to a wall of its leaves, veins all tracking back to a single point, staring at you like it couldn't care less. Forgetii tends to hand down a bluer cast and a dimpled, almost reptilian texture to whatever it's crossed with, so I'm curious to see how much of that survives being filtered through Justin's subvelvet leanings. Should be an interesting collision.
