Justin x forgetii

Justin is the plant that keeps on giving, and I don't just mean the name. Picked up from Tezula back in summer of 2022, bred by another Justin down in Tampa who left seed at SKG - I bought a seedling on the strength of the coincidence alone, and it's turned into one of my most prolific breeders since. Some clones are floating around out in the wild at this point, so don't be alarmed if you run into one. The actual formula underneath is (crystallinum x magnificum) x subsignatum, and I've run over 15 unique hybrids through this plant, most of them carrying that subtle subvelvet quality forward into the next generation.

The pollen parent, forgetii, isn't a closed sinus guy, but the species has its own kind of pull - a wall of leaves with veins all tracking back to a single point, staring back at you like it's got nothing to say. Emotionless, distant, a little alien. What it tends to do for hybrids is push a bluer cast into the leaf along with a dimpled, almost reptile-skin texture. So this cross is really a bet on Justin's prolific subvelvet leanings meeting forgetii's cold-blooded texture head on.
