(portillae x antolakii) x antolakii

This is a division of a plant hybridized by the good folks at Carnivero and given to me as a gift by a friend. I'll get a parent plant photo up one of these days, for now the second photo is what it was divided from.

The pollen parent I know well, at least by reputation. A. antolakii is named for Rory Antolak, and though the formal description hasn't made it to print as far as I know, the plant doesn't need paperwork to make its case. It's shorter and darker than a lot of its jungle-monster cousins, almost diminutive by comparison, but that's the point. It comes from dense understory where light is scarce, and the tightly packed papillae on its lamina are built to gather every scrap of it. Function dressed up as texture. So this cross is half question mark, half known quantity, and I think that's a fair trade.
