[(SKG dressleri x magnficum) x papillilaminum Ft Sherman] x carlablackiae "Tropicarla"

The seed parent is ((SKG dressleri x magnficum) x papillilaminum Ft Sherman), and I'll be honest, I don't have a single note on file for it. Sometimes a plant just exists on a tag and in a seed pod, no story attached, and that's fine. It'll have to speak for itself.

The pollen parent is where the fun is. Anthurium carlablackiae "Tropicarla" came to me from an Ecuadorian nursery that swore up and down it was seed grown, blowing them out at the end of a show like they needed to disappear before someone counted the divisions. Once I got it home I could see plainly it was divided at the stem. Not enough to call fraud, not enough to trust it either, so I just filed it under "always a little suspicious" and moved on. I've got several flowering-size carlablackiae in the greenhouse now and I try to keep them straight when I can. This one got its name from a Rays broadcast, of all things, the announcer kept saying Tropicana Field and something clicked. Tropicarla. I said it out loud in the greenhouse like I'd invented penicillin. Possibly my best name yet, low bar as that may be.
