The seed parent here is one of my favorite pap crosses in the greenhouse, and it comes with a story I like telling. I bought it off Bill during my first ever trip to Silver Krome Gardens, right after an IAS Show & Sale, when he was clearly exhausted and I was clearly bothering him. He drove me around his greenhouses anyway while I shopped like a giddy child interrupting an adult trying to do adult things. I paid him for it, so we'll call it even. Thanks Bill.

That seed parent, the one sometimes called "Velvet Giant" for good reason, crossed onto pap Ft Sherman produces something genuinely stunning - a maroon-brown emergent that diffuses into a green-brown leaf surface, incredibly velvety, on a plant that does not stay small. Big parent, big result.

Now put carlablackiae "Tropicarla" pollen on that, and you get this batch. I have nothing on file about Tropicarla itself worth repeating, but the name alone earns its keep on the tag.
