vittariifolium x vittariifolium variegated

vittariifolium. vittariifolium. Still that double-ii sitting quietly in the middle where nobody looks for it.

The seed parent is straight A. vittariifolium, long thin belt-like leaves like every one of them has. I've bought a lot of these over the years and only a handful earn a permanent spot on the bench to breed with - they self so easily that most of what you see is just a plant talking to itself, though somehow that habit still throws off more streaked-leaf offspring than you'd expect. This particular plant survived a rat attack, berries gone, petioles chewed clean off, and just kept growing anyway. Fuckers. It's still here, so here we are.

The pollen parent is a streaked-leaf vittariifolium too, no more backstory than that on file, just a name on a tag and pollen that got where it needed to go. Two of the same species, one plain and one not, doing what the species does best on its own. I'm curious to see how many of these seedlings decide to follow the streaked side rather than just default back to belt-leaf green, the way vittariifolium usually likes to.
